4 February 2009 Dear Friends, The Anak Natin Foundation had a great year in 2008 with record income and early education centers served. We raised $37,735 and were able to provide 100 "School in a Box" kits. A partnership with Rotary International led by District 3810 and the Clubs of Intramuros, and Tondo in Manila, partnering with Kishiwada East and Kesenoruma Clubs in Japan, has facilitated a dramatic expansion of support to early learning centers in Manila City and several new provinces. Details are described in the newsletter tab of the website. The website, under the achievements tab, includes class photos for each Center served, including the name of the teacher. The children and their parents were excited to know that their pictures could be seen all over the world through the internet. The Foundation continues to be entirely managed by our volunteer Board of Directors with support from many other volunteers who share our vision for Filipino children. We have no salaried employees either in the USA or in the Philippines and therefore have kept administrative expenses very low. We have been able to spend 96 percent of our income directly for providing our "School in a Box" to the 100 day-care centers. I have personally enjoyed meeting many of the great people who have contributed to the Foundation and have been especially blessed to meet the recipient children and their parents and teachers in their day care centers. I see the potential for greatness in every child as they embrace early learning. Many had never used crayons or listened to stories read by their teacher until the "School in a Box" arrived. We are grateful for the contributions of hundreds of friends and organizations. Without your support we could not have achieved so much in our 3 years of operations. We are committed to continuing and hope that you and your friends and family will contribute again and bless a child in 2009. A contribution of just $25 can provide the teaching/learning materials for one child for the 3 years of pre-school education so critical for these children. Contribution forms can be printed for sending with checks or you can contribute on line safely with a credit card and print your official receipt. Best Wishes and Mabuhay!
